De Soto-based Goodcents Deli Fresh Subs will debut its new prototype at restaurants in Leavenworth and Olathe.

Dubbed the “Goodcents of the future,” the locations will have a new design including a butcher block wall, local photos, digital menu boards, and self-ordering kiosks. They also will have an enhanced beverage system including brewed tea and premium lemonade, and a more extensive line of bottled sodas, energy drinks, teas and flavored waters to help drive drink sales.

The Leavenworth restaurant, at 2915 Trailhead Drive, opened about eight years ago. It will remain open during the remodeling, which should be completed by June 6.

A new location also is under construction at 10450 S. Ridgeview Road in Olathe. It is scheduled to open in August.

Some of the new design elements were introduced in a St. Louis area Goodcents in June 2015.

Goodcents president Scott Ford has 30 years experience in the restaurant industry, including leadership positions at Applebee’s, Boston Market, and McDonald’s. He joined Goodcents about six years ago and was promoted to chief operations officer in 2014. He was named president in April.

“We want to stay relevant and stand out in a crowd of sandwich shops. We think our food stands out already but we want to make sure we stand out with our facility,” Ford said.

The company currently has 82 locations in eight states. It also recently introduced a Goodcents app for faster ordering.
