Industry Changes Set Up Restaurants for Success in 2021

March 1st, 2021 by

QSR magazine screenshot featuring an article about Goodcents

Restaurant dining rooms are pretty quiet right now, as Americans continue to embrace carryout and delivery to stay safe.

In a new article for QSR magazine, Goodcents CEO Farrellynn Wolf writes that restaurants had to pivot quickly in 2020 to handle a major shift from on-premises dining to takeout, and they also had to make it convenient for their guests to make those changes. This year, the changes in place to make it easier for guests to visit our restaurants and to keep them safe when they do will pay dividends.

Letter from the President: COVID-19

March 16th, 2020 by

Dear Neighbor,

As a locally-owned and operated restaurant, we want to do our part to promote the safety of our employees and guests during this complicated time, while keeping our communities well-fed.

We’re sure you’ve received many messages like this one. That said, we still believe it is important for you to know the measures we’re taking to help be a better neighbor.

Here are the changes we are implementing to keep our employees safe, while keeping our doors open in the ways that we can.

Affordable Meal Planning

  • All Goodcents To Go Meals have been marked down to $5. Preparing meals for a prolonged period of time can be difficult to budget for and store. We have reduced the price on all of our meals to help make it easier to be food secure. Like the rest of our menu, these meals are available for delivery. For a list of meals click here.

Sanitization Recertification

  • Goodcents employees have been recertified on all standard cleaning, sanitization, and handwashing procedures in addition to going through sanitation training specific to COVID-19

Social Distancing Methods

  • Contactless Delivery – All our locations deliver. If you would like to request “Contactless Delivery” you can do so over the phone or through the notes for the delivery address through our online ordering site or app
  • Curbside Pickup – All restaurants will be instituting a curbside pickup option. Just park and call the restaurant to let us know you’ve arrived.
  • Drive-Thru – For those locations with drive-thrus, pickup has always been available as an option. We are also making sure you can select it through online ordering as well

We have appreciated your support and patronage over the past 30 years and appreciate this opportunity to support you in this moment.

President

Goodcents Celebrates 30th Anniversary

February 28th, 2019 by

Goodcents is celebrating its 30th anniversary as one of the most beloved local sub sandwich restaurants. To celebrate, the company announced today that it will be hosting a special celebration event on March 1 at the original Goodcents location in Lenexa, Kan., featuring 8-inch turkey subs for 30 cents*.

Who:          Goodcents

What:         30 cent 8-inch turkey subs

Where:       Goodcents Store #1 – 13416 College Blvd., Lenexa, KS 66210

When:        March 1, 2019

Why:         To celebrate Goodcents 30th anniversary

This event is exactly 30 years since the first Goodcents restaurant (Store #1) opened its doors on March 1, 1989.

Goodcents, formerly known as Mr. Goodcents Subs & Pastas, was founded by local entrepreneur Joe Bisogno. His entrepreneurial journey started when he was just 6 years old running lemonade stands, then he started an ice cream truck at 18 years old and later purchased a gas station and used car lot at 22 years old. Knowing he always wanted to start his own restaurant, Bisogno took a position with McDonald’s Corporation as an instructor of the company’s franchise program. He spent more than 10 years observing and understanding the restaurant business and operations before leaving to start Goodcents in 1989.

“I saw an opportunity to create a more nutritious option for people looking for a quick meal on the go,” said Bisogno. “While a lot has changed in 30 years, we’ve always stayed focused on good, quality food that people continue to love today and our brand is strong.”

Headquartered in DeSoto, Kan., Goodcents has more than 70 locations across the country. Locations are based in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Dakota, Arizona and Minnesota with additional franchise opportunities available nationally.

The company is known for its signature soft bread, baked fresh in-store twice daily, as well as its freshly sliced meats and cheeses, hearty pasta meals, and chewy cookies. Last year, Goodcents also announced a new line of Centsable Kitchen meals featuring fresh, chef-prepared grab-n-go options like Mac & Cheese, Classic Lasagna, Chicken Carnitas Tacos and more.

Goodcents is planning additional celebration events featuring the 30 cent 8-inch turkey subs at additional restaurant locations across the country over the next several months. To see the celebration event lineup for a location near you, visit goodcentssubs.com/30-year-anniversary/.

Independent Survey Shows Franchise Owners Are Highly Satisfied with Goodcents Support and Performance

DESOTO, Kan. – Goodcents Deli Fresh Subs was recently named one of the top 30 Food and Beverage franchises by Franchise Business Review in its 2018 Top Food and Beverage Franchises report.

Goodcents has nearly 30 years experience providing high-quality deli fresh subs, house-baked breads and pasta. Headquartered in DeSoto, Kan. with 75 locations across the country, the company is known for its signature bread baked fresh in the restaurants every day, slicing sandwich meats and cheeses to order, and hearty pasta meals. With locations currently in eight states, including Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Dakota, Arizona and Minnesota, the franchise has a rapidly growing footprint across the U.S., with plans to also expand internationally.

Franchise Business Review, a market research firm that performs independent surveys of franchisee satisfaction, provides the only ranking of franchises based solely on actual franchisee satisfaction and performance. Franchise Business Review publishes rankings of the top franchises in its annual Guide to Today’s Top Franchises, as well as guides throughout the year ranking the top franchises in specific sectors.

To select the companies on the list of top food and beverage franchises, Franchise Business Review analyzed 18 months’ worth of data from over 4,200 franchise owners in the food sector regarding their overall satisfaction with their brands and their likelihood to recommend them to others.

Goodcents franchisees were surveyed on 33 benchmark questions about their experience and satisfaction regarding critical areas of their franchise systems including training & support, operations, franchisor/franchisee relations, and financial opportunity.

The Goodcents Franchise Satisfaction Index survey data score significantly exceeded the Franchise Business Review Benchmark score, with notably high performance in the ‘financial opportunity’ and ‘training and support’ categories. Franchisees also rated Goodcents highly in the categories of ‘Enjoy the Business’, ‘Trust the organization’ and said they would recommend the franchise to others.

“Food operators are some of the most passionate in all of franchising, and while the investment is higher, so is the potential for returns – if you choose the right brand,” said Michelle Rowan, president and COO of Franchise Business Review. “The brands on our 2018 list have proven they are performing well in many areas that are critical to their franchisees’ success.”

“It means a lot to be recognized as one of the top 30 food and beverage franchises in the country, especially in today’s competitive marketplace,” said Mike O’Toole, Chief Growth and Support Officer for Goodcents. “Our team has always taken a unique, personalized approach to supporting our franchisees and I’m proud of their hardwork.”
